SALUDA - As Saluda High School defensive tackle Dexter Wideman searched under the podium Wednesday for the props he would use to announce where he would play college football, he had a little fun with the crowd in the gymnasium.
"Y'all waiting?' he asked, grinning.
Wait, they did, and when the wait was over, Wideman made a lot of people in his home state happy by announcing with a cap and gloves he would sign his national letter of intent to play for the University of South Carolina.


After the cheers died down, the gym emptied and Wideman was interviewed by multiple media outlets from across the state, he was a bit more subdued when asked about how excited he was to have the recruiting process completed and his letter of
intent signed.
"There's not a word to describe how happy I am," he said, simply.
