A Greenwood man was arrested during the weekend after being tied to a home invasion, stemming from a love triangle.
Danny Wilbanks, 47, of 119 Bedford Road, was charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the incident.
The victim told officers he was having an affair with a man's wife when the man broke into his home Friday night. According to a Greenwood police report, officers found several items inside the house smashed and shattered. The victim said the suspect's wife encountered the man while he was inside the residence, and he could hear her telling the suspect to leave. Officers questioned the woman who indicated her husband kicked the back door in, entered the home armed with a revolver and began looking around the house for the victim. When he could not find the man, she said, he slammed a laptop on the floor and left the residence.
Police then questioned the suspect at his home early Saturday morning, and the man indicated he caught his wife cheating on him. He advised officers his wife told him she was in Columbia and he later found out she was in town at the victim's residence. He said he went to the home, found her there and banged on the door several times. When no one answered, he said he forced his way inside and told her their relationship was finished.
