There’s a little more to do this weekend for the 47th annual South Carolina Festival of Flowers, including a new event that harkens back to an event from the past.
The Judges Council Standard Flower Show opens today at Greenwood County Library and is presented by the nationally-accredited Judges Club of South Carolina.

The show, in the American Veterans Auditorium in the library, is a member of the National Garden Clubs Inc., The Garden Club of South Carolina and South Atlantic Region. The show is themed, “Joy of Books.” There are many categories for the show and there will be displays of unique flowers and plants.
“It’s a flower show that we haven’t had in years,” said Ellesor Holder, executive director of the South Carolina Festival of Flowers. “It’s the return of a traditional flower show. People can come and see flower arrangements that are part of the flower show.”
Hours for the free show are 2:30-5:30 p.m. today, noon-4:30 p.m. Saturday and 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday.
