A Greenwood man is in custody on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Bryan Dow, 41, of 212 Mill Ave., was arrested Wednesday in connection with a June 24 incident.
According to a Greenwood Police Department report, a police officer met with the victim, a 25-year-old white female, at City Hall. The woman appeared to be extremely upset and told the officer she was assaulted by Dow, her boyfriend.
The victim said Dow “forced her” to borrow $20 in order to purchase meth. Following the purchase, an argument between the two escalated into physical violence with Dow pulling the victim’s head back by her hair and hitting the top of her head with his fist. It was reported that Dow also bit the victim on her nose. During the altercation, Dow repeatedly threatened to kill the victim and had held a knife to her throat as well as trying to strike her with the claw end of a hammer, reports stated.
The responding officer noticed small cuts to both sides of the victim’s nose as well as redness on the right side of her neck.
After the initial altercation, Dow forced the victim into a pickup truck and began driving to Waterloo. While driving within the city limits, Dow continued to punch the victim in the face. The officer further noticed redness and the beginning of black discoloration around the victim’s left eye.
Upon arriving at an unknown address in Waterloo, Dow continued to assault the victim before “(passing) out,” allowing the victim to flee.
