QUENTIN TALLEY
QUENTIN TALLEY
Quentin Talley got his first taste of theater at Mathews Elementary School in Greenwood. The Greenwood native has been able to parlay his love for theater into On Q Performing Arts Inc., a successful nonprofit black theater company in Charlotte.
Talley was born and raised in Greenwood and attended Mathews, Brewer (Middle) Intermediate, Emerald Junior High and Emerald High School. Those are the places where he discovered his love for theater. He was in the gifted and talented program in Greenwood School District 50. He also performed in programs at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, for Thelma Christopher and at Greenwood Community Theatre.

“I did a lot of theater when I was in Greenwood,” Talley said. “I found a love for it over time.”
Talley still has family in Greenwood. His mother, Helen Talley, sister, Lowanda Cannon, and grandmother, Mary Cannon, are here. Talley said he gets back to Greenwood about four or five times a year.
