An Abbeville County man faces charges following a domestic dispute at his home Tuesday afternoon.
Robert Boyd, 44, of 192 Johnson Creek Road, Iva, was charged with criminal domestic violence in connection with the incident, Abbeville County court records showed.
Abbeville County deputies were called to the suspect's home about 4 p.m. Tuesday following reports the suspect stormed into the house intoxicated and retrieved a handgun. According to an Abbeville County incident report:
The victim was in the home with a 9-year-old child. She asked the suspect what he was doing, and the man said, "I'm getting my gun and taking care of those SOB's." She told officers he was irate and began insulting and cursing at her. At some point during the dispute, he pointed the gun at the victim while the child was in the room. The suspect then left the scene in a vehicle with a friend.
He later turned himself into authorities at the Abbeville County Law Enforcement Center, where officers questioned him. Deputies noted they spoke with the victim earlier in the day after the suspect threatened to kill her over the phone. Abbeville County investigators referred that case to the Honea Path Police Department because it took place when the victim was at her workplace.
