Abbeville County deputies made arrests in a March fatal shooting that left an Abbeville man dead on his parents' front porch.
Jamil Omar Philips, 30, was gunned down in front of his Abbeville residence at 1522 Old Douglas Mill Road late the night of March 25. He died in his father's arms moments after the shooter ambushed him on the front stoop of the ranch-style brick home. His key was in the front door. Officials indicated he was returning home from his job at a Greenville CarMax at the time of the shooting.
Officials from the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office indicated the investigation is still ongoing and did not immediately release the names of suspects Wednesday. ACSO investigators and State Law Enforcement Division agents will be on hand to release details on the arrests during a press conference at the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office at 2 p.m. Thursday.
