Car set afire; Greenwood woman faces arson charge

Officers arrested a Mill Pond woman after finding a vehicle engulfed in flames at a Greenwood apartment complex Thursday morning.
Keona Washington, 31, of 108 McQuay Court, was charged with third-degree arson in connection with the incident.
Deputies responded to Windtree Court apartments and found an older-model Chevrolet on fire in front of one of the buildings.
According to a Greenwood County incident report, a witness at the scene reporting seeing a woman with several tattoos dressed in a tank top and pajama pants throw a cigarette lighter into the car, causing it to ignite. The victims told officers the suspect fit the witness' description. One of the victims said he and the suspect had recently broken up and told officers the car was registered in the woman's name until the couple ended their relationship a couple of days prior to Thursday's incident. Another victim said she had new tags put on the vehicle Wednesday, and the vehicle was registered in her name at the time of the fire. Both victims said they had received several threatening calls from the suspect.
