D50 board member: Budget could allow for more teachers

Budgets are complicated, to say the least. In a place like Greenwood School District 50, with 13 schools, a current student population of 8,894 and various lines of funding, the situation becomes even more nuanced.
One board member, however, said the district and board are not doing enough to include more funding to hire teachers.
Because of budget cuts, 157 teaching positions in the district were eliminated since 2007. For the 2014-15 school year, however, the district plans to hire eight new teachers.
