WARE SHOALS — March figures to be a busy month for Ware Shoals Town Council.
Two major, long-standing issues will take center stage at the March monthly meeting with a possible third also coming to a head.
The Ware Shoals Fire Department's lack of space, an audit of the town's sewer and wastewater infrastructure as well as discussion of the Catfish Feastival building were key topics at the Tuesday meeting.
"Right now, Fire Chief (Rodney Boyter) is getting some more solid numbers," Mayor John Hansen said. "We're looking at moving the fire department coming to Town Hall."
Hansen said the initial figures Boyter presented were $15,000 for an expansion at the current fire department building and $50,000 to make truck bays at Town Hall suitable for the department's fire trucks.
"We also need to make that area habitable," Hansen said. Council is pursuing the fire committee's Plan B recommendation to use the town hall.
