Greenwood County deputies are investigating a burglary in which several guns were stolen from a Magnolia Place residence Monday morning.
Officers responded to Althea Street within the subdivision just south of S.C. Highway 246 about 4 a.m. The victim, a physically debilitated 70-year-old man with a walker, reported hearing someone entering the home and said he'd heard a gunshot behind his house. The man, who locked himself in his room, told dispatchers he thought he scared the burglars away by activating his medical alert system, and he said he had a gun.

According to a county incident report, officers arrived and found a window knocked out of the home's garage door, as well as several fresh footprints leading out of the garage to the rear of the property. Officers determined the thieves entered the home and made off with a .40-caliber pistol, a 12-gauge pump shotgun, and a .45-caliber pistol.
