Greenwood man charged with second-degree burglary

One man was arrested following reports of a robbery Tuesday afternoon in Hodges.
Scott Vaughn, 33, of 225 Merriman Ave., Greenwood, was charged with second-degree burglary, grand larceny and malicious injury to real property in connection with the incident.
Greenwood County deputies responded to a vacant home along Hodges Circle after reports of a suspicious van parked near the residence. A witness reported seeing two males near the scene. According to a Greenwood County incident report:
A patrolling officer located a man fitting the witness' description walking along U.S. Route 25 North while en route to the scene. The officer placed the man in custody and escorted him to the scene of the reported burglary.
Once there, the suspect gave investigators a full confession, saying he and a female entered the residence through an unlocked door and took several items. He also told officers he cut catalytic converters from an SUV. The suspect then showed investigators four bags containing various sports memorabilia, comic books and movies. Owners of the residence valued the stolen items at $3,000.
