Greenwood police arrested a man Friday believed to have been involved in a shooting earlier this month.
Cedric Adams, 26, of 710 Sidney Drive, Greenwood, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the March 10 incident.
Greenwood County deputies initially took over the investigation after the victim reported he was shot at Dreams Nightclub, 2408 S.C. Highway 72/221, the morning of March 10. The victim, who was shot in the hip, originally told deputies who questioned him at Self Regional Medical Center, that he was at the club alone and got jumped by a group of other patrons there, records indicated.
According to a city police report, three days later, upon further questioning, the victim told county investigators that the shooting actually took place at an apartment complex along Pressley Street near East Cambridge Avenue. That is when the investigation was turned over to city police.
Greenwood police officials said the victim subsequently fingered the suspect as the gunman who shot him. Officials said the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving the victim.
