A Greenwood County man was arrested after admitting to breaking into a Ninety Six home Tuesday morning.
Colin Gunnells, 27, of 2505 Hamilton Road, Troy, was charged with burglary, larceny, malicious damage to real property, and tools/possession, making implements capable of being used in crime.
One of the victim's neighbors called police at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday after seeing a car speed out of the victim's driveway. The witness told police he recognized the driver of the vehicle to be the suspect. According to a Greenwood County incident report:
Officers responded to the scene as well as the area of the suspect's home in Ninety Six. Deputies were able to contact the suspect's parents and talk the man into meeting them at his parent's home. Officers arrested him there and took him to the Greenwood County Detention Center for questioning. The suspect confessed to the crime there, saying he stole two guns from inside the residence and stashed them alongside S.C. Highway 246 when he was contacted by deputies. The man led officers back to where he dumped the weapons. Officers also found a small crowbar in the vehicle the suspect was driving. The tool had paint on it matching the victim's damaged door.
