A Greenwood man faces a litany of charges following a domestic dispute Wednesday night in south Greenwood.
Willie Jones, 45, of 110 Beaufort St., Greenwood, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, kidnapping, assault and battery, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace in connection with the incident, records indicated.
Officers responded to the scene along Beaufort Street and were greeted by a young child in the front yard who said two people were fighting inside and noted, "He is beating her up."
According to a Greenwood police report:
Officers found a foot-long knife and a trail of blood droplets beginning outside the home, leading to a bedroom inside. That is where officers found the suspect and a shirtless female. The woman told officers she and the suspect began arguing about personal matters when he barricaded her in the bedroom and began threatening to stab her with a knife.
At some point, the man left the bedroom and the woman escaped the house through a window. That's when the altercation spilled into the front and backyards. Witnesses told officers they saw the suspect striking the woman, and one said they saw him dragging her into the house. At some point during the assault, she said he ripped her shirt and bra off and ordered her to go back into the house and put a shirt on.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and transported to Self Regional Medical Center to be treated for a cut to the foot he suffered during the incident. He was booked on an added charge for being belligerent at the hospital.
