One man was arrested Tuesday night after police found several grams of a drug believed to be marijuana near East Cambridge Avenue.
Tremayne Turner, 30, of 723 White Oak Lane, Greenwood, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and resisting arrest in connection with the incident.
An undercover officer witnessed a suspect interacting with a man on Cokesbury Street, one block north of Cambridge Avenue.
Police said the officer observed the suspect perform a "hand to hand" transaction with the other man. The officer then confronted the suspect and attempted to detain the man. At some point during the encounter, the suspect attempted to evade the arrest by pushing the officer away, attempting to punch the officer and elbowing him. The patrolman was able to detain the man and found 24 grams of the suspected pot in his jacket pocket, along with a digital scale that contained residue of the substance.
