A Greenwood woman was arrested following reports of a fight last week.
Samantha Long, 20, of 116 Flowers Road, Greenwood, was charged with first-degree assault and battery, strong arm robbery and malicious damage to personal property in connection with the incident.
The 19-year-old female victim reported the incident about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 1, flagging down a deputy patrolling through a church parking lot along Bypass 72. According to a Greenwood County incident report, the deputy immediately noticed the victim's face was severely bruised and swollen, and her left knee had a large wound. The teen said she was at a gathering in the 300 block of Kelli Drive, where there were about a dozen other people when the suspect assaulted her.
The victim told officers the suspect arrived to the party and immediately began cursing at her because of a previous disagreement concerning a man and damage to the suspect's vehicle. She indicated the suspect grabbed her by the hair when she attempted to leave and began punching her as the other partygoers looked on. After the assault, the teen said her attacker smashed her phone and took $20 out of her purse.
