The Humane Society of Greenwood issued a plea for blankets for dogs housed at the Greenwood Animal Shelter.
Most dogs are housed in outdoor covered kennels with no heat. The temperatures are expected to drop to 9 degrees tonight. Makeshift barrel houses were built to help keep the dogs off the concrete, but blankets will help insulate those houses.

New or used blankets can be taken to the Greenwood County Animal Shelter at 235 Wilbanks Circle (behind Civic Center and Farmers Market) in Greenwood. Regular hours of operation are 10 a.m.-5p.m. Monday through Saturday.
