A Hodges teenager was arrested early Friday morning after Greenwood County deputies found items from a broken-into mini mart at his home.
Marteco Durant, 18, of 127 Roundtree Drive, was charged with burglary in connection with the incident.
According to a Greenwood County incident report, officers went to his home to question him about a break-in at a Hodges convenience store that occurred between 1-2 a.m. Friday.
The suspect was intoxicated and refused to answer officers' questions. His mother told deputies she left the teen at their home about 1:10 a.m. Friday and returned to the residence about 40 minutes later. That's when she said she saw her son pushing a cash register on a red tricycle, the report indicated.
The mother said she went to the shop along U.S. Route 25 North and saw a window busted out and the store's inside in disarray. Deputies went to the store and confirmed forced entry was made, and arrested the suspect.
Officers found a cash register, four 24-ounce Budweiser cans, four muffins and a pack of cigarettes at the suspect's home. All the items were returned to the store owner.
