Police arrested a Hodges man after raiding a Ware Shoals home Monday night.
Michael Frazier, 25, of 1520 Shirley Road, Hodges, was charged with manufacturing marijuana within proximity of a school, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person convicted of violent offense in connection with the incident.
Ware Shoals police executed a search warrant on a home on Jackson Street, and found the suspect and another woman inside. According to a Ware Shoals police report:
Inside a bedroom in the residence, officers found a book bag containing 9.5 ounces of a substance that later field tested positive as marijuana. The bag also contained a digital scale, several blunt cigars and a box of sandwich bags commonly used to package the marijuana. Police also found $816 in cash in the bedroom as well as a marijuana grinder and a glass pipe. A bulletproof vest and a box of .380-caliber ammo were located in a gun safe.
The suspect took responsibility for items found and told officers he sold pot for a while because he couldn't find a job. When questioned later at the Ware Shoals police station, the suspect told officers, "All of the weed is mine. I know I am not going to be able to get out of these charges. I don't have a job, and I have to make money somehow."
