Area residents had the chance to take a step back in time Saturday.
The Ninety Six National Historic Site is hosting the 96 Crossroads: Revolution in the Backcountry event this weekend. The event will continue from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today.
On a bright and warm spring Saturday afternoon, the grounds of the historic site were alive with numerous re-enactors and living historians dressed in Revolutionary War-era garb. There were various demonstrations, displays and educational opportunities throughout the site, with history literally coming alive right before residents’ eyes.

Ninety Six National Historic Site superintendent John Slaughter said he was thrilled to see a diverse crowd of residents in attendance for Saturday’s activities.
“The turnout is always great at this Crossroads of the Revolution event,” Slaughter said. “There is diversity in the folks who are out here. It’s amazing. You see kids out here who are 6 months old all the way up to 96 years old and every gender and race you can imagine. It’s just a great opportunity to come out and learn some history.”
