Laurens County couple arrested in connection with man's shooting

A Laurens County man and woman were arrested Sunday after a Cross Hill man was shot, according to a Laurens County press release.
Bruce Smith, 48, of 11939 Highway 72 West, Cross Hill, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, kidnapping, pointing and presenting a firearm and malicious damage to personal property in connection with the incident. Brandy Deyton, 34, of Mountville, faces a count of possession of methamphetamine stemming from the incident.
Laurens County deputies responded to the male suspect's home Sunday and found the victim, a 39-year-old man, shot in the buttocks. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody at the Johnson Detention Center to await bond hearings.
