Greenwood police arrested a man wanted on drug charges in northeast Texas following a routine traffic stop during the weekend.
City officers arrested Tauaro Burton, 35, of 126 Sample St., Greenwood, as a fugitive from justice in connection with the incident, which occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The suspect was riding as a passenger in a vehicle traveling west along Seaboard Avenue. A patrolman stopped the car because he believed the occupants weren't wearing seatbelts. According to a Greenwood police report:
When the officer ran the suspect's name through a national database, he came back wanted by the Harrison County Sheriff's Office in Texas for possession of a controlled substance and a $75,000 bond revocation. The man was taken into custody at the Greenwood County Detention Center, and authorities at the HCSO sent paperwork indicating they planned to extradite the suspect.
