A former Walmart employee was arrested Monday after admitting to store officials he stole $5,000 from the Greenwood shopping mart.
Andrew Wyatt, 27, of 613 Church St., Abbeville, was charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent (greater than $2,000, less than $10,000) in connection with the incident.
Greenwood County deputies met with a loss prevention officer at the Greenwood Walmart earlier this month.
According to a Greenwood County incident report:
The Walmart security officer said the suspect stole money from cash registers he worked for the past month. The officer indicated he questioned the suspect, and the man provided him a confession and a written statement admitting to stealing more than $5,000 in cash on various dates and times while he worked.
Security officers were able to use video surveillance to prove $2,360 worth of the theft and turned the evidence over to deputies.
