Prison guard faces sex charge

A Greenwood prison guard was arrested Wednesday after admitting to having sex with an inmate.
Nayschia Anderson, 23, of 220 Morton Road, McCormick, was charged with second-degree sexual misconduct with an inmate and misconduct in office, malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance in connection with the incident, records showed.
According to a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections, Anderson was employed as a correctional officer at Leath Correctional Institute since June 2012. The suspect admitted to having a sexual relationship with an inmate at the level-three women's prison, which sits on a 39-acre plot along Airport Road in unincorporated Greenwood County.
