Officers arrested a man early Saturday and accused him of possessing crack cocaine and fighting with officers.
Greenwood Police arrested Fitzgerald Antonio McDuffie aka "Yo Yo" aka "FA," 36, of New Market Street, Greenwood and charged him with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, resisting arrest with an assault on an officer and public drunk.
According to reports, officers responded at about 3:45 a.m. Saturday to the area of South Main Bar and Grill after getting a report the suspect was causing problems there. Officers were advised the suspect left the bar and was walking toward Brewski Brothers. Officers caught up with the suspect in front of that location.
The report said officers attempted to search the suspect for weapons, but he would not let them. He reportedly seemed "extremely nervous" and appeared to be "looking for an escape route." Officers also reported the man's eyes were red, his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.
The report said officers then attempted to take the man into custody, but he resisted vigorously. The suspect reportedly hit one of the officers in the face during the altercation.
According to the report, officers were eventually able to get handcuffs on the suspect.
Officers searched the suspect's pockets and allegedly found 16 grams of crack cocaine in his possession, along with a set of digital scales and almost $500 in cash.
The suspect was taken to Greenwood County Detention Center.
