School spirit permeated the air of Lander University's Horne Arena on Wednesday night.
Fraternity brothers with shirts replaced by royal blue body paint and yellow letters littered the stands. Female students with blue and yellow screamed "defense" and "Go Lander" until their throats were hoarse.

The occasion? Spirit Night. The event is part of the university's overall homecoming celebration. The night featured a friendly competition between the school's extracurricular organizations, eached dressed zealously in their Lander colors. Included in the competition were various Greek organizations, as well as the NAACP, the resident assistants' organization, and the University Programming Council.
The groups were judged based on their effort and clarity of their presentation.
Groups could only compete if they attended both the women's and men's games.
