After a great deal of preparation, promotion and discussion, Greenwood’s pro golf debut is at hand.
The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic will be this week at The Links at Stoney Point. The tournament is a function of the Symetra Tour, which is a gateway tour to the LPGA.
There will be a number of events going on in association with the Women’s Health Classic, including pro-am play Monday through Wednesday, with the main tournament beginning Thursday and continuing through next Sunday.

Officials with the Greenwood Regional Tourism and Visitors Bureau said they expect 5,000 to 10,000 people will attend the tournament throughout the week and the event could have a $1 million economic impact on the community.
Greenwood Mayor Welborn Adams said he is enthused about the Symetra event coming to Greenwood. The mayor lauded Stoney Point owners Jim and Denise Medford for all they have done to make the event a reality.
