Authorities last week arrested two Greenwood teens who were implicated in a slate of vehicle break-ins.
Greenwood police took Matthew Chrisley, 17, of 111 Wiley Court, and Douglas Hughes, 18, of 120 Hitt St., into custody Thursday. Both were charged with two counts of breaking into motor vehicle and petit larceny in connection with the incidents, jail records showed.
The duo was suspected in more than a dozen recent theft reports for vehicles along Pascal Drive and Rock Knoll Drive. According to multiple Greenwood police reports:
The incidents range from Jan. 5 to Thursday, when police tracked the suspects. Witnesses reported seeing the two suspicious men walking along Pascal Drive early Thursday morning and attempt to break into an SUV. Officers traced footprints in the snow, which led to one of the suspect's homes. A victim whose car was parked on the same road that night reported a pair of binoculars and about $50 in cash stolen from his vehicle. Several other car owners reported their vehicles were rummaged through and no items were missing.
