The county's Violent Crimes Task Force nabbed two Greenwood men thought to be involved in a deadly shooting earlier this year.
Eric Carlisle, 23, of 149 Marshall Circle, and Dwayne Sanders, 25, of 1420 E. Cambridge Ave., face charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection to the March shooting death of a Greenwood man, records indicated.
Both men were apprehended Monday. Carlisle was arrested at his home, and Sanders was taken into custody at the Greenwood County Detention Center on an unrelated charge.
Officials indicated both men are expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
The charges stem from a March 23 shooting incident, during which 30-year-old Tremayne Demon Turner was gunned down in front of his girlfriend's house along Meadow Street. The shooting occurred just after 4 a.m. and left Turner with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Self Regional Medical Center, where he died.
According to a Greenwood police report, the victim was standing outside with a group of friends when five or six shots rang out. Witnesses told investigators the shots were fired from a dark-colored vehicle that sped away from the scene.
Investigators said the two suspects were in the vehicle from which the fateful shots were fired. Officials think there were multiple shooters involved in the incident as more than one caliber of shell casing was found at the scene.
Officers searched Carlisle's home along Marshall Circle on Monday afternoon and apprehended him there. According to a Greenwood County incident report, agents found about 205 grams of marijuana in his residence during the search, as well as two pistols, which were taken into evidence. Carlisle faces an additional charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana in connection with the alleged drug findings, records indicated.
Investigators said Tuesday the shooting appeared to have sparked from an altercation between rival street crews that began at an Abbeville night club the day of the incident.
