PLUM BRANCH — Fred Kendall Kelly, 76, resident of 698 Lyon Seigler Road, died April 4, 2014 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, June 18, 1937, he was a son of the late James Arthur and Ila Odell Scott Kelly. He was a graduate of White Plains High School in Piedmont and was a US Navy Veteran.
Fred retired from the SC Highway Patrol after 31 years of service, all served in McCormick County. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and a Life Member of Mine Masonic Lodge No. 117 in McCormick.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna and husband George T. White of McCormick; a son, Fred Barron and wife Debbie M. Kelly of Gray Court; grandchildren, Kelly Ardis, Kindall Strange, Jessica Kelly, Whitney Ardis, Tyler Buzhardt, Taylor Kelly, Travis Kelly, Lauren Kelly and Michael Moore; son-in-law, Roger Ardis of McCormick and a special friend, Eunice Dorn of McCormick.
He was the last member of his immediate family being predeceased by 15 siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Kile Antone and Rev. Gary DeBerry officiating.
Burial with honors presented by the SC Highway Patrol Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the SC Highway Patrol Honor Guard. Honorary escort will be retired troopers of the Highway Patrol, Greenwood Troop No. 2 along with the men of Buffalo Baptist Church.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Monday. The family is at the home on Lyon Seigler Road and will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 Sunday afternoon.
