Mrs. Jessie Scott Wiggins, 84 peacefully entered rest on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Wesley Commons Healthcare Center. Mrs. Wiggins was a native of Abbeville county. Jessie was the daughter of the late West Scott and Corina Starks Scott. Jessie was the wife of Mr. Arthur Wiggins.
Mrs. Wiggins was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Promiseland community; she served on the gospel choir, usher ministry, missionary ministry, and was also served as the choir's seamstress in making several choir robes.
Mrs. Wiggins was also active in her community she served in the Women's Society #62 of Greenwood, SC and the Order of Easter Star.
Mrs. Wiggins worked as a substitute teacher at Mary Wood Elementary for many years. Her love and passion for children began at her home, she and her husband worked tirelessly as foster parents. They legally adopted eight children and reared an additional fourteen children until they were placed in homes.
Mrs. Wiggins is survived by a loving circle of mourners that include; five sons: Darwin Smith, Dennis Wiggins, Alfred Wiggins, Jermaine Wiggins and Jarvis Wiggins all of Greenwood, SC; six daughters: Angela Butler, Rosita Allen, Allison Middleton and Judy Wiggins all of Greenwood, SC; Paulette Brown and Juliet Paul both of Greenville, SC; one brother: R. H. Collins of Atlanta, GA; twenty-three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
