Elizabeth Rhodes “Liz” Buist, 57, resident of 756 Mill Road, wife of James Miller Buist, died March 22, 2014 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
Born in Bamberg, August 2, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Milton Theodore, Sr. and Edrie Sease Rhodes. Mrs. Buist received a BS degree from Clemson University and was County 4H Agent for the Clemson Extension in Greenwood County for many years before retiring in 2005 as 4H State Horse Specialist. She was passionate about working with youth of all ages.
Surviving in addition to her husband of thirty-three years are a son, Justin Rhodes Buist and wife Sterling Elizabeth Buist of Manhattan, KS; granddaughter, Ryleigh Elizabeth Buist; brother, Milton Theodore Rhodes, Jr. and wife Darlene Kay Rhodes of Ehrhardt, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. John Miller officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday immediately following the service and at other times at the home, 756 Mill Road in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Liz’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
