FREDERICK, Md. - Marcelle Blackwell Grindle, 86, resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, formerly of Greenwood, widow of Howard Eugene Grindle, died October 18, 2012.
Born in Spartanburg, October 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Clinton Dewey and Irene Jones Blackwell. She was a longtime member of Cedarwood Community Church.
Mrs. Grindle was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Alan Grindle.
Survivors include a son, Howard E. Grindle, Jr. and wife Kim of Fairfax, VA; four grandchildren, Kathleen, Kiersten, Evin and Emilie; brothers, Carroll Blackwell and wife Evelyn and Carroll Blackwell, both of Greenwood; and sisters, Catherine Bowick and Hazel Nelson, both also of Greenwood.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cedarwood Community Church, with Reverend Darrell Rooks officiating.
Burial will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Britt Blackwell, Neal Blackwell, Chesley Blackwell, Jeff Davis and Chad Charles.
Honorary escort will be Evin Grindle.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Blyth Funeral Home and Saturday following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
