Phyllis Teresa Gilmer Deal, 63, resident of Quarter Path, widow of David Arnold Deal, died March 23, 2014 at her home.
Born December 29, 1950, in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Jim Bert and Bessie Helen Norrell Gilmer. She was educated in Abbeville County Schools. Mrs. Deal was retired from Greenwood School District 50 as an employee in the cafeteria of Northside Middle School.
She was a member of Abbeville Church of God and attended the Abbeville Congregational Holiness Church.
Surviving are her stepmother, Flossie Sorrow Gilmer of Abbeville; a daughter, Teresa (Jesse) Dorn of Abbeville; a son, Matthew C. (Wendy Michelle) Clary of Greenwood; six sisters, Trudy (Don) Frye, Pam (George) Norris, all of Abbeville, Myra (Rev. Gene) Land of Mauldin, Wanda (David) Land of Greenwood, Kathy (Steve) Willner and Tammie (Tommie) Taylor, all of Ninety Six; four brothers, Wayne (Linda) Gilmer of Calhoun Falls, Eddie Gilmer, Roger (Tempie) Gilmer and Ken Gilmer, all of Abbeville; ten grandchildren, Evan, Taylor, Dillon, Kelsi, Bryson, Kameron, Addison, Madalyn, Chase and Sterling.
She was predeceased by a son, Bryan Skelton and a brother, Bobby Gilmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Land and Rev. Tye Sorrow officiating. Burial will be in Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Jennings, Blake Fain, Carl Butler, Danny Land, Jimmy Land, Steve Evans, DJ Evans and Joe Clary.
The family is at the home of Wanda and David Land, 103 Twisted Oak Drive in Broken Ridge and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
