Wiley Norman Price, Jr., M.D., passed away on March 26, 2014, at the age of 90.
He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 26, 1923 to Maude Pate Price and Wiley Norman Price. He grew up in Many, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana College and subsequently graduated from LSU Medical School with a degree in Internal Medicine. He served in the Navy as a physician in World War II. He married Peggy Jackson on March 13, 1949, and loved and cared for her until her death in 2001.
He established his medical practice, Greenwood Internal Medicine in 1952. He thoroughly enjoyed serving others, and was always a kind soul who was willing to listen and to provide the best medical care to his patients. His dedication and perseverance were obvious to all. He did not hesitate to show his care and concern for his patients and his family.
Wiley remarried later in life to Mary Luquire who worked in his practice for years. They enjoyed 11 years of a loving marriage. Mary was relentless in her care of Wiley during his illnesses.
Wiley is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters, Gayle Price Lofgren of Aiken, Jane Price Fouche (Dan) of Greenwood, and Mary Wiley Signaigo of Roswell, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua Snelling, Kelsey Lofgren, Pate Fouche, Wil Fouche, and Price Signaigo. He is predeceased by his wife Peggy Price, his parents, Maude and Wiley Price, his brother, Lester Price and his sister, Evelyn McNeely.
Wiley was a person to be admired and appreciated. His religious faith was a very important part of his life, and one that he clung to and expressed with passion. A dedicated member of the First Baptist Church and the Carpenter Sunday School Class, he was also a longtime member of the Chancel Choir of the church. He will be sorely missed and remembered as a gift to us all. He was truly loved and loving and his memory will always bring warmth to our hearts.
Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating.
Private family burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
The family will receive friends in the Church Social Hall immediately following the service.
