The Knights of Columbus Father John B. Adair Council 7129 have just concluded their annual Operation Hope Campaign and again we thank the Greenwood community for its generosity that helped make our Operation Hope Campaign a success this year. We are the men, women and children that you see standing in front of the doors at Walmart, K-Mart and Bi-Lo passing out Tootsie Rolls in September, October and November.
Operation Hope stands for Helping Other People Every Day and through its support we try to make the world easier to navigate for challenged citizens in our local communities. This year we raised capital in excess of $6,400, which was dedicated to improving the dignity and self-reliance of many challenged children and adults. During the past five years we have given back to the Greenwood community in excess of $25,000.
This year we received grant requests and have presented checks to the following schools and organizations: Greenwood High School, Emerald High School, Rice Elementary, Woodfield Elementary, Northside Middle School, Merrywood Elementary, Greenwood School District to provide aid for their students and participants in their mentally challenged programs.
