Too hot for you, too hot for pets

Summer is upon us, so please do not take your animals with you if you cannot take them with you when you’re out of your vehicle. Same goes for riding in back of your truck.
I would like someone to tell me what the temperature can be outside to make it safe to keep an animal locked up in a vehicle. It is my understanding an officer was called to a department store and he informed the worried caller that the dog in the vehicle will be OK for 2 more hours. This was May 7 at 8:45 a.m. I believe it was 70 then. According to a chart I have, the car could have been more than 100 degrees, even with four windows cracked.
We have said it a zillion times, if it’s too hot for you to sit in the car with the windows rolled up or cracked, it’s too hot for your pet.
