Former Ninety Six High School soccer player Grant Dickey arrived at the school Friday morning wearing a splint on his right hand, nursing torn ligaments in his thumb.
But even that injury — suffered during practice for the North-South Soccer Classic — could dampen his enthusiasm on this morning.
That’s because Dickey was there to sign his national letter of intent to play soccer at Erskine College.
“I’m really excited,” Dickey said.

That simple statement epitomizes the recent graduate: confident and excitable, yet notoriously untalkative.
Of course, throughout his entire career at Ninety Six, he let his play do the talking.
The two-time defending All-Lakelands player of the year scored a mindboggling 103 goals in the last two seasons combined, while amassing 44 assists in that timeframe.
Add in Dickey’s sophomore year, and it’s 126 goals and 70 assists in the last three seasons.
Now, he’ll get the chance to show that talent at the collegiate level.
