Coming off a dramatic first win of the season against Southside Christian two weeks ago, part of Dixie High School football coach Travis Harris wanted his team to get right back on the field the next week to continue that momentum. Instead, the Hornets had a bye week.
Harris welcomed that time off, though.
"It depends on your viewpoint, your philosophy and how you want to look at (the bye)," Harris said. "At the time, we had some linemen with some nagging injuries and were actually using a third-string center against Southside Christian. That's a lot of time good in that aspect, the bye week allows you to heal.
"And I don't think they forgot that win, so I think it's worked out."
