GREENVILLE — The Greenwood High School girls basketball team wanted another shot at Dorman after back-to-back playoff losses against the Cavaliers.
They got that shot in Friday night’s Class AAAA Upper State championship, and it turned out the third time was the charm.
Tianna Swearinger scored a game-high 23 points to help the Eagles bounce back from a 12-point halftime deficit and stun Dorman 74-65 to win the Upper State crown and punch their ticket to the Class AAAA state championship game Friday in Columbia.
The Eagles will take on Dutch Fork at 7 Friday at Colonial Life Arena.
The victory avenged the pain of the past two seasons, when Greenwood saw its season end at the hands of Dorman in the third round of the playoffs.
