When the Greenwood High School football team steps on the field tonight at Hillcrest, it will be facing a situation coach Gene Cathcart said this week he can't remember ever facing since becoming the Eagles' coach in 2009.
The Eagles will be the underdogs in a Region 1-AAAA game.
Cathcart said seeing how his youthful squad (2-2) matches up against the Rams, the preseason favorites for the region championship, will be a good benchmark.

"Playing at their place and things of that nature, it makes it a big challenge for our young kids, but we're excited about getting into region play and seeing exactly how we stack up," he said. "We've tried to explain to them the facts of the situation, and not really use (being the underdog) for motivation, but use it for just respect of who you're playing.
"Anytime you're playing the number of young underclassmen as we're playing against a team that's expected to win your region, it's a challenge for your kids."
