Trailing by nine points in the third quarter of Tuesday night's Upper State semifinal game against Irmo, the Greenwood High School girls basketball team faced the prospect of losing in the postseason's third round for the fourth consecutive year.
Not this time.

Greenwood clawed its way back to take the lead in the fourth quarter, then fended off the Yellow Jackets in a wild final quarter to earn a 56-50 victory and a berth in Friday's Upper State finals at the Bon Secours Wellness Center in Greenville.
The Eagles will face Dorman, the team that ended their season each of the last two years.
"It was just a great team effort," Greenwood coach Susan Thompson said. "(The players) fought, and everyone that went in stepped up and played hard. I just can't say enough about their character and just working hard."
