Saturday was a day of giving back for Greenwood natives Josh Norman and Brandon Freeman.
Norman, a cornerback for the Carolina Panthers, and Freeman, a professional basketball player, spent Saturday afternoon signing autographs at Belk before playing in Norman's second annual celebrity basketball game Saturday evening at Greenwood High School.
The tickets sold at the celebrity basketball game went to Norman's non-profit organization, Starz24, which puts on activities and events for children, particularly in the Greenwood area.
"This is great, just giving back to everybody, giving them a chance to do something with me and these guys," Norman said. "They've done a lot for me, so coming back, giving back to them and the kids, that's what it's all about."
Freeman missed out on Norman's first celebrity game last year and was eager to make his appearance this year to do his part in helping his community. While at Greenwood High School, Freeman won the 2001 South Carolina Mr. Basketball award before going to Chipola Junior College for two years and Arkansas-Little Rock for two years.
