COLUMBIA -- This was one rally the Greenwood High School girls basketball team, try as it might, was unable to pull off.
The Eagles, who trailed 37-17 at halftime of Friday's Class AAAA state championship game, fought their way back and even trailed 54-53 before Dutch Fork pulled back away and won 62-55 Friday at Colonial Life Arena.
This was Dutch Fork's third consecutive state championship victory. The previous two, Dutch Fork's star was Alaina Coates, who is the niece of Greenwood native and ex-NFL star Ben Coates.

In last week's Upper State championship game, for Greenwood, Eagles coach Susan Thompson's team stormed from a halftime deficit to beat Dorman.
In Friday's loss, Greenwood (23-7) was led by Tianna Swearinger's 30 points, followed by Yanna Jones with 13. Dutch Fork (19-7) was led by Zhane Green with 21, followed by Morgan Williams with 17 and Olivia Anderson with 10.
