Having just played Monday and with the Conference Carolinas tournament looming Thursday, Erskine College baseball coach Kevin Nichols had limited options to throw against Lander on Tuesday.


He planned on starting Kyle Foster against the Bearcats, but Foster threw 52/3 innings Monday against Anderson, a game added to the schedule at the last minute. And Nichols had to save the Fleet’s top arms for the conference tournament.
Nichols predicted his team would need to score 10 runs to beat Lander with his limited pitching staff.
Nichols was exactly right.
