New Greenwood High School football coach Dan Pippin said he was so excited for his team’s jamboree matchup against Abbeville that he was crying before the kickoff. He was crying on the walk to the field from the practice field behind the press box. He was crying during the opening kickoff and could barely call the first play because he couldn’t see through the tears.
His Eagles, on the other hand, we more than ready for their first game-type environment.

Greenwood scored two touchdowns and added a field goal to beat Abbeville 16-6 in 20 minutes of action.
“The kids probably weren’t nervous at all,” Pippin said. “I’m crying when we’re walking down the hill. I can’t call the first play because I can’t see, I’m crying I’m so excited. Kids were fine. I wasn’t.”
