At Emerald High School, Cody Pirkle wrestled his way to three region championships.
He earned All-Lakelands honors three times.
And, the Viking was a three-time state runner-up.

After an accomplished career, Pirkle signed with UNC Pembroke, and he celebrated the signing with family and coaches Tuesday inside the school’s gymnasium.
“It feels really good,” Pirkle said. “It’s been a long, long choosing process. I had to choose carefully and look at every perspective concerning every college and everything each of them had to offer.
“And, it’s a special day because my family is so involved with wrestling. We live it, breathe it.”
