The Erskine College baseball team needs wins.
Although the Fleet are 32-12, they currently sit in seventh in the southeast region, and only six teams advance to the NCAA regional tournament. So, Erskine needs to keep winning to try to move up in the region.
And the Fleet will have a big opportunity tonight at Dolny Stadium against the top team in the region in second-ranked Lander.

Unfortunately, the Conference Carolinas tournament begins Thursday. Erskine coach Kevin Nichols cannot throw his top pitchers against the Bearcats because he needs them for the tournament, where if the Fleet win, they automatically punch their ticket to the regional tournament.
“A win would be huge,” Nichols said of the Lander matchup. “They’re sitting in first, obviously a really, really good team. It’s really bad scheduling on my part because we’ve got to save our guys for the tournament.”
