Opera for Kids! FBN Productions from Columbia, is bringing a new look at the story of Goldilocks and the three bears in a free children’s opera performance 11 a.m. March 11 at the Arts Center of Greenwood.

The performance is geared toward children in kindergarten through fifth grade and lasts about 45 minutes, followed by a brief question and answer session with the singers.

“All According to Taste: The Three Bears’ Guide to Porridge Making” includes music from the operetta “The Bohemian Girl” which was written in 1843 by Michael William Balfe. However, text has been changed in this case to tell the story of Goldilocks and what happens when differences are embraced, with lyrics by Daniel A. Gainey.

The performance is directed by Ellen Douglas Schlaefer, with scenic design by Teddy Moore and costume design by Alexis Doktor.

FBN brings together young professional opera singers and operas written with young audiences in mind. The company has been doing operatic storytelling for children since 1994.

This performance is co-sponsored by Greenwood native and professional opera singer Keith Jameson and the Arts Center of Greenwood. FBN has done children’s opera performances at the Arts Center several times.
